Sonoff HYDRO DUO+ BSP Zigbee Smart Water Valve - Scargill's Tech Blog

Back in July 2024 I wrote about the then new Sonoff Smart Water Valve (BSP) – with a follow-up in December as on initial release, the device wasn’t quite complete – by December they’d cracked it… and then along came the Nous L14 smart water valve – When we moved house at the start of 2026, I swapped over to the Nous as the latter didn’t take up the same height as the Sonoff and it needed to fit in a not-too-deep outside sink as against it’s original use on a simple outside tap.Like the original, the new Sonoff Hydro Duo takes 4 AA batteries and like the original has a very good seal around the battery department. However, Sonoff seem to have learned – as the new device isn’t as tall as the original despite now having TWO separately controlled water outlets.

That’s a plus.By now this is probably starting to look like a Sonoff advertising channel – but no – they’ve just brought out and sent me lots of new stuff in a short space of time. The new Hydro Dual is out on sale TODAY as far as I know.

As I do, I opened the box, fitted 4 batteries and immediately added the device to Zigbee2MQTT in my Home Assistant installation without as much as looking at the instructions. The whole operation took seconds including renaming. Here is much of the Zigbee2MQTT screen output: and more: and more: and more: And more: and more: And more: I think this is going to go on forever – I just can’t print it all out – here’s a bit more: Suffice it to say that the information and control is VERY comprehensive on this brand new unit..

child lock, seasonal adjustments, water shortage adjustment, you name it and all of this follows through into the Home Assistant settings – including irrigation volume readout – I love it already. As for height – the new Sonoff device is exactly the same height as the Nous, despite being twin-output.Finally, as well as 4-battery power, you can also use well-sealed USB-C power if you wish.

or my next project, this has to mount below an outside sink, providing one output to a tap (the Sonoff will merely provide emergency shut-off on one side and timed hose control on the other).Read my 2 other articles on the subject if interested… I’m using a LONG hose lying in the HOT Spanish sun – 30 seconds on, 10 minutes off to top up our pool and simultaneously raise the water temperature, looped continuously for hours on end.I start the Nous manually but with the new sonoff seasonal adjustments – who knows…
